A periodontal exam takes a little longer than a regular checkup because every pocket is measured and recorded. You see the numbers and what they mean. Deep cleaning is usually done in one or two visits, one side of the mouth at a time, with the area numbed so it is comfortable.
Most patients notice less bleeding within a couple of weeks. Reversing gingivitis is common. Advanced bone loss cannot be regrown with cleaning alone, but it can be stopped, and Dr. Odinsky will tell you plainly which situation you are in.
